Chemical Engineering as a Path to an Efficient Future
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the popular open-air science and technology festival VědaFest took place once again at Dejvice’s Kulaťák in Prague. This year’s theme, "Life with Science," invited visitors to explore the role of science in our everyday lives. From 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, the event offered a day full of interactive exhibits, experiments, and scientific shows under the open sky.
UCT Prague joined the main stage with several exciting chemistry shows and welcomed curious minds of all ages to explore its many exhibits throughout the day.
Chemical Engineering at the Forefront
The Faculty of Chemical Engineering at UCT Prague was proudly represented by the Department of Chemical Engineering, showcasing chemical engineering as a key to a more efficient and sustainable future.
Under the slogan "Where has the energy gone? What’s happening inside the reactor?" visitors could dive into the fascinating world of chemical engineering. With the help of CFD simulations and a thermal imaging camera, the team revealed what usually remains hidden inside reactors and processes.
The exhibition emphasized that chemical engineering goes far beyond the laboratory – it combines mathematics, physics, technology, and informatics to solve real-world problems. Guests learned about mass and energy balances, gas behavior, process modeling, production design, and even cybernetics and algorithm development as integral parts of the discipline.
