Josef Hlávka Award Presented to Ing. Věra Schrenková

Ing. Věra Schrenková, a graduate of Analytical and Physical Chemistry at our Faculty of Chemical Engineering, has received the Josef Hlávka Award, granted by the Nadání Josefa, Marie and Zdeňky Hlávkových Foundation. The award ceremony traditionally took place on 16 November 2025 at the Josef Hlávka Château in Lužany.

The Josef Hlávka Award is a prestigious distinction presented annually to outstanding figures in Czech science, culture and the arts, as well as to exceptionally talented university students and young researchers. Ing. Schrenková was recognised for her excellent scientific achievements, interdisciplinary approach and strong potential for further research development.

Věra Schrenková is currently a doctoral researcher at UCT Prague, specialising in computational chemistry and polarised Raman spectroscopy. Her research, conducted in close collaboration with the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, combines advanced computational methods with state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques, particularly for the characterisation of pharmaceutical materials. Her work has been published in several renowned scientific journals and has received recognition at both international and national conferences.

In addition to her research activities, Ing. Schrenková is actively involved in science communication and public outreach. She reached the national final of the FameLab 2024 competition and regularly participates in public science events and initiatives, including activities organised by the UNIQORN Association at UCT Prague. Through these efforts, she contributes significantly to making complex scientific topics accessible to a broader audience.

The Josef Hlávka Award represents an important recognition of her work to date and an encouragement for her continued career in scientific research.
