Alumni Reunions After 20 and 30 Years
Class reunions are usually joyful occasions when friends meet again after many years — sometimes after such a long time that they barely remember who once sat next to them in the lecture halls. Typically, these gatherings require someone proactive enough to contact everyone and bring them together in one place. Unfortunately, such enthusiastic volunteers are not always easy to find, and that is why our faculty decided last year to organise 20- and 30-year alumni reunions annually directly at their alma mater. Last year’s event was a great success, and this year’s was even better!
On Friday, 22 May, around 30 alumni returned to the faculty to reminisce about their student years, reconnect with classmates and teachers, and discover what has changed at the faculty since their graduation. Following the opening welcome in the Coal Hall, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Michal Přibyl, introduced the alumni to current developments at FCT. Afterwards, Vice-Dean Doc. Pavel Hrnčiřík presented the idea behind establishing the FCT Alumni Club, while Doc. Jitka Čejková spoke about the current format of the Student Scientific Conference and opportunities for alumni involvement.
This part of the programme was held in a hybrid format, allowing several additional former students to join via Zoom. The event continued with guided tours of selected laboratories and departmental facilities, where participants could see how their former study environment had evolved and what modern equipment the faculty now uses.
We would like to thank all alumni for attending and for creating such a pleasant atmosphere. We look forward to future alumni gatherings together!
