Vít Svoboda in the Finals of the Dream Chemistry Award 2025

Vít Svoboda from the Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague), has advanced to the top five finalists of the international Dream Chemistry Award 2025 with his visionary project “From Molecular Chirality to Petahertz Quantum Computing.”

This is a truly historic moment – for the first time ever, a representative from the Czech Republic has reached the finals of this prestigious competition. We are immensely proud of Vít and wish him the best of luck for the grand finale in December!

About the Competition

The Dream Chemistry Award is a prestigious international competition that celebrates young scientists with bold visions aimed at solving fundamental scientific challenges. The award does not judge completed results but rather seeks to support scientific dreams that can transform the future of chemistry, technology, and society.

The competition is co-organized by the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IChF PAN) and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB Prague). The final round alternates each year between Warsaw and Prague; this year’s finale will take place on 1–2 December 2025 at IOCB Prague.

A unique feature of the competition is its original glass trophies, each symbolizing the very moment when a scientific idea takes shape. The Warsaw trophy depicts a dream as a vapor that gradually condenses into the first drop of a concrete idea. The Prague trophy captures the moment when an experiment begins to transform, changing shapes and colors – a scientific dream in the making.

Czech Success on the Global Stage

By reaching the finals, Vít Svoboda has joined the ranks of the world’s top young scientists and has become the first Czech finalist in the history of the competition. His success is not only an outstanding recognition of his own work but also a testament to the high quality of research carried out at our faculty.

We warmly congratulate Vít and wish him the best of luck as he presents his vision to the international jury this December!
