Two Teams Join the Catalyst by VŠCHT Incubator

Two teams from the research group of Prof. Jan Mareš at the Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Cybernetics have been selected for the incubation programme of the new Catalyst by VŠCHT incubator. Both projects use artificial intelligence and aim to translate research results into practical applications.

The first project, AI Translator for Czech Sign Language, is developing a system for automatic translation between Czech Sign Language and spoken or written Czech. The aim is to create a practical tool that will make everyday communication easier for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. The project is represented in the Catalyst programme by Prof. Mareš, Daniela Janstová and Jakub Tomeš.

The second project is an AI Platform for Monitoring Rehabilitation in Patients with Facial Expression and Movement Disorders. The system uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to objectively assess motor functions and track rehabilitation progress. The technology is being developed in collaboration with clinical partners, with potential applications in telemedicine. The project is represented in the incubation programme by Prof. Mareš and Jakub Ciler.

Catalyst by VŠCHT is a new pre-incubation programme focused on technologies developed at the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague and their further development towards practical applications. Through workshops and individual mentoring, participating teams explore the needs of potential users, validate market potential, and identify the next steps for their projects.
