Overview
The morning commenced with a networking breakfast, followed by thought-provoking discussions and presentations focusing on various aspects of gender equality in the scientific community.
Speakers
- Doc. Jitka Čejková – One of the event organizers and the moderator of the entire session.
- Prof. Milan Pospíšil – Rector of UCT Prague, opened the event with a welcoming address.
- Prof. Michaela Rumlová (Vice-Rector for Doctoral Studies) – Discussed recent legislative changes related to the Higher Education Act and their impact on academia.
- Prof. Petr Zámostný (Dean of FCHT) – Explored the transformation of traditionally male-dominated department towards gender balance and the challenges and opportunities it brings (see presentation).
- Prof. Pavel Matějka (Vice-Rector for External Relations and Communications) – Spoke about internationalization as a strategy for strengthening UCT Prague, highlighting the importance of diversity and global collaboration in academia.
- Prof. Jan Merna – Introduced IUPAC and the Global Women’s Breakfast initiative and invited participants to the IUPAC International Congress, which Prague will host in 2029.
- Dr. Kamila Zdeňková – Presented the Julie Hamáčková Award, recognizing outstanding contributions by women in science (see presentation).
- Petra Kubálková (from cats2cats) – Spoke about the EWA – Empowering Women in Agrifood project, supporting female innovators in the agrifood sector (see presentation).
- Lu Přibyl (from Gender Studies) - Spoke on the topic of social safety (see presentation).
- Dr. Vít Svoboda – Shared personal stories and insights from his experiences abroad.
- Ing. Anna Mittnerová – Introduced the upcoming "Návraty" (Returns) project, aimed at supporting professionals returning to work after a career break at UCT Prague (see presentation).
